7 Things that we love about Google

Google has that… well ‘Google’ feel to it. Its sometimes hard to explain why we love it so much; how it is so special. I’m not just talking about the search engine, but also about the other services that Google offers. This post is about the things that makes Google what it is and why we love it so much.

1. The Google Look & Feel

First of all Google is very clean and simple. Take the default homepage for example. You have your links in the top left, your information in the top right, keeping it nice and simple with standard links. You then have your Google logo, which is colourful and Googlerly, and then you have a standard search box with some more links and options. Spotify: Could their iPhone app compete with iTunes?

Spotify, an online music streaming service, is a very popular service used by many people, allowing them to listen to their favourite music online. Spotify is free but also offer a premium service for faster streaming and no ads. Spotify has submitted their application to Apple, waiting for approval. The spotify team have been working on their application for a few months now, for use on the iPhone and the Android platform. The application will only be available for premium users who will be paying £9.99 a month, but the big thing is, if approved then the service could be direct competition to iTunes!

The problem for Spotify is Apple. Apple have to approve their application and in the past Apple hasn’t been so kind, rejecting applications which may pose a threat to any of their services. Not only does the application allow you to stream the music when connected to WiFi or 3G, it also allows you to save playlists to your device, allowing you to listen to the music when you don’t have an internet connection.

Google Wave: The future of communication?

Google Wave is a ‘new model for communication and collabration on the web’!

Google Wave will be released later this year! Normally, Google usually announces their products near their release date, but they have shown the world early because of the API behind this type of communication.

Google Wave

A wave is kind of a topic which allows people to communicate and work with different types of media; text, photos, videos, maps etc. The system allows any participant to reply anywhere in the ‘Wave’, edit content and share it with others. A wave is also live, so as you type you message will be displayed in the ‘Wave’ section.
